By Bibly Sixer Zeyu

Today, the old folks from AWWA (Ang Mo Kio Branch) came to HPPS to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival. In the morning, the Senior Sixers, Sixers and Assistant Sixers came early for a skit rehearsal. The whole pack reported at 9am. Before the old folks came, we had a briefing on what would happen.
The plan:
10:00am The old folks arrived.
10:10am Start the program.
10:15am Game 1: Beanbag throw
10:45am Game 2: “拍拿放” Game
11:15am Craft: Bear painting
11:30am Lunch
12:00pm Skit
12:30pm Good Bye to the old folks.
1pm Home Sweet Home
As it was raining heavily, the old folks were slightly late. At around 10:25am, the old folks arrived. The cubs brought the old folks to Kidzone 1. The old folks were grouped into 10 groups. Each Six was to take care of 1 group which consisted of 2-4 old folks. When the old folks took their seats, Baloo started the programme.
The first game was bean bag throw. The Sixer of each Six explained the game rules to their group of old folks. The old folks has to throw at an object without hitting it. The old folk who threw the bean bag closest to the object without hitting the object wins. Some of the cubs joined the old folks.
After the first game, we moved to the canteen. When the old folks sat down, the cubs started to tell the old folks how to play the next game-"拍拿放”. Each old folk had a bean bag. There are 4 commands: 拍, 拿, 放, 桌. When the commander says “拍”, we need to clap once. When he says “拿”, pick up the bean bag. When he says “放”, put down the bean bag. When he says “桌”, bang the table.
Here are some of the commands:
拍拍, 拍拿放
拍拍拿,放放放
拍桌, 拿放,桌拿放
拍拍,桌桌,拿放放
拍拿放, 拍拿放
拍拍桌,拍拿放
拍拍桌桌,拍拿放
拍拿放, 拍拍拿放
After that, the old folks painted a keychain bear. Many old folks had fun painting the bear. While painting the bear, the cubs chit chat with the old folks.
Next, the old folks tasted our canteen food! They had lunch cooked by our canteen auntie.
After lunch, we went back to the Kidzone. We had a skit about how Chang-E went to the moon with a little twist. The show was both funny and entertaining.
After the skit, we sang 3 songs. The Bee Song, We are working on the rail road and Father Abraham. It was very fun.
Not long after, the bus has arrived to pick the old folks. We waved goodbye to them as they boarded the bus. After they left, we had a briefing on what to do next week-----a solar oven.
Today’s session was very rewarding. Many cubs had a chance to talk to the old folks. Many old folks had interesting stories to share. We can learn from their past experiences. I hope we can have more such sessions.
