Tenderfoot Camp Day 2 21 Jan 2024

By Emu Sixer Niu Yunhan I woke up at 6.00 a.m, unwillingly called up by the other sixers. We got changed and brushed our teeth quickly and then went to lead the morning exercise, which made us all more awake and ready for the day. We did it and went to eat breakfast, which was bread with cheese and ham. We did a very loud tick-tock chant. After breakfast, the tenderfoots returned to the Kidzone, where they practiced reciting the Scout Promise and Scout Law. Baloo then enlightened them about Baden Powell, the visionary founder of Scouts. As the camp drew to a close, the tenderfoots learned to pack their belongings and maintain cleanliness in the area, though a few lost items were found amidst the hustle. Departing with joyous hearts, they sang the campfire songs they had learned during their time together. I thought that this experience was very good for the tenderfoots as it helped them develop their independence and helped them learn more about Scouting. There, I witnessed first-hand

Tenderfoot Camp Day 1 20 Jan 2024

By Echidna Sixer Benjamin Ong It was a sunny morning and all of the tenderfoots arrived around 8.40 am. It was the first day of the tenderfoot camp. All of the tenderfoot seemed excited about the camp. Upon arrival, they were divided into four six: Ants, Bees, Chicks, and Ducks, and introduced to their respective Sixers and AS (Assistant Sixers). Following this, a simple flag break ceremony was conducted, led by Donald and Ewan. After the flag break, they engaged in various games such as broken telephone and drawing transfer, fostering camaraderie and laughter among the groups. Bagheera captivated their attention with the timeless tale of Mowgli, igniting curiosity and sparking lively discussions. At about 11.15 am, they all took a tea break where the leaders distributed snacks to the tenderfoot. Following this, the tenderfoot all participated in a foot drill where they learned how to do “Baris Sedia”. They had their first experience of cooking their own food, preparing lunch independe

First Meeting 13 Jan 2024

By Senior Sixer Donald Or At 8:30 am, quite a lot of people had already reached school and were sitting down patiently. The sixers started to bring out the flagpole and into the kidzone. They then tied the flag to the flagpole. Luckily, the senior sixers tied it on the right side this time. Soon, the senior sixers blew the whistle and the cubs gathered into horseshoe formation. The new recruits formed a squad behind the horseshoe formation. There were quite a number of new recruits. After colour party, the recruits followed Kaa and Grey wolf to Kidzone 2 for their activities. As for the main pack, after the colour party everyone gathered into the Indian file. The senior sixers gave the sixers files for attendance. After that, the unit was split up into a few groups and they went to various stations, each conducting a lesson by a leader. The first station was conducted by Bagheera and he taught the cubs about the values a pelican has and why it is inside our scout troop’s name. The seco

Leadership Refresher Course 6 Jan 2024

By Senior Sixer Ewan Tan It was a good Saturday morning when I woke up. I was excited, ready to go to school for my first scout meeting of the year. Only assistant sixers and Sixers and Senior sixers were supposed to go as the meeting was a refresher of what we learnt the year before. I was excited because I was going to meet my friends again after a long holiday! First we had a mini horseshoe, then we went into Indian file. We did a lot of activities like foot drill, games and a talk about the jungle book. I was really happy to have a refresher as I also needed to revise my foot drill before the first meeting of the new scouts. It was a very enjoyable meeting, I enjoyed meeting my friends and talking with them! We are all ready to meet our six next week!
