Pancake Making Competition 12 August 2023

By Bilby Sixer Zeyu

We arrived at 9am for the color party. We lined up in horse shoe which took some time as some of the cubs were still not sure what to do. After we got into horse shoe, Donald started the color party. It was Emu’s turn to raise the flag. After color party, we lined up in Indian file. Ikki took some time to explain the purpose of 1 minute of silence. Ikki explained that, during the 1 minute of silence, we are supposed to plan ahead mentally for the day’s activities and set personal goals for the meeting.
After that, we had Six Corner. In their Six Corner, the cubs shared what they have brought for the pancake making competition. Some cubs brought fruits, others brought chocolates. They discussed how they were going to decorate the pancake. After six corner, we changed into half uniform. After all the six had changed into half uniform, Bagheera told us that the canteen is ready to cook the pancakes.
At the canteen, Raksha briefed us about how to make a pancake. First, we need to add water to the pancake flour. Then we shake it till we get a smooth batter. While we were shaking the batter, we needed to get butter from Raksha.
It’s time to make the pancakes! First, we heat the pan. After the pan is heated, add the butter. After the butter melted, add the batter. Once bubbles appeared on the pancake, you can flip the pancake over.
When we were done making the pancakes, we needed to decorate it. The canteen was in a mess at the end of the day. We were tasked to clean up the place. After clearing the mess, it’s judgement time!
The judges were Raksha and Kaa. They went around to each table to see our pancakes. Each six was to explain their creation. Next, was the moment everyone was waiting for! We could eat our creations! The cubs wolfed down the pancakes in 10 minutes! After that, we packed up and went back to the KidZone.
Kaa announced the winners for the competition.
Kangaroo came in FIRST.
Bilby came in SECOND.
Wombat came in THIRD.
In today’s activity, we learnt more about teamwork. As a Six, we need to work together. We need to be responsible to bring the assigned ingredients. We need to help one another to clear up the place. We need to help one another.
Lastly, we had sunset party and everyone went home.
