Refresher Meeting, 5Jan2019

Written by: Chong Min Rei, Senior Sixer and Scribe

It was an early morning and the sun was still rising. After colour party, we moved to a classroom as it was very noisy and we couldn’t her Mr Cheong properly. We then sat down and started to listen to Mr Cheong while looking at the white board. We took out our black books and pens to take down notes. He told us that we should always bring our First Aid Kit and black book with our yellow book in it. He started talking about discipline and how we needed to be initiative. He also talked about how to be a good Sixer, what a good Sixer should be. He told us how we should act around the new recruits and be aware on what we should do. We are their role models, they will look up to us and as we want them to be obedient and listen to us but if we don’t behave they won’t listen to us and we would have problems.

After a small break, he moved onto badges and the prestigious Akela Award. He talked about the components, what values we should have and the interview. He told us the standards that we should have and how nice we should make it. We also talked about what arrows our appointments should have. He planned when to carry out certain activities for the Akela Award and for the Akela Awardees, we were mentors as we have gone through the process and knew what would happen during the whole journey.

Soon, we collected the logbooks to decorate for our six and started to practice our foot drills. We practised our marching and how we supposed to do our baris sedia and senang diri. Not long, we did sunset party and went backhome.
