The Amazing Michelin Hawker Food Trail 2024 on 11 May 2024

By Senior Sixer Donald Or I arrived at school at around 8:30 am and immediately reported to the hall. It was the most exciting event of the year for me! I was looking forward to it as it was my last Amazing Trail. Most of the Scouts had already arrived and were chatting excitedly in the hall, with their parents sitting at the back. Other schools in the North Area had also joined us. I got my Amazing Trail t-shirt from my facilitator. When I saw the design, I was very excited. It said, "Amazing Michelin Hawker Food Trail!" I like anything about food, so I knew today was going to be great. I was in the Kookaburra six, and I talked to my juniors about the Amazing Trail. Soon, it was time for the briefing. Ikki briefed us about the starting time and when we needed to report back to school. He also told us about the point system and optional tasks. The part I was most excited about was that we needed to take videos and photos to combine them into a video. After the briefing, we we...

The Amazing Michelin Hawker Food Trail 2024 on 11 May 2024

By Senior Sixer Ewan Tan “Yes!” I exclaimed to myself. Today is the Amazing Trail. It has been a beacon of my memories in Scouts. Every Amazing Trail provides an opportunity to lead, make friends, and have fun! I woke up and quickly got ready for the long day ahead. Upon arriving at school, I was greeted by a sign instructing us to gather in the hall. At the hall, I waited for the other Cubs to arrive. This Amazing Trail was a little bit more special because HP Pelican Scouts had invited other scouts from the North Area. I was excited to know this year’s Amazing Trail theme. It was themed around Michelin Hawker Food. We changed into our Amazing Trail shirts and set off for the long journey ahead. It was tiring and challenging, but Scouts don’t give up. We took it on and overcame the difficulty. But most importantly, we had fun. Back at school, the Sixers and I welcomed the guest of honor for our gala dinner. Our hard work had paid off! We scurried onto the stage—we had won the Amazing ...

Amazing Makan Trail

This is the 8th Amazing Trail! Instead of having the participants record their amazing trail experience in a scrapbook like previous years, we used  tumblr.  to blog the trail. Participants blogged on the fly via smartphones or tablets using its mobile app. The judges could even do some preliminary judging duties on the blogs' contents while waiting for the sixes to report back to school. Amazing Trail is BACK!, 18th May 2013

Due to the SA1 examinations, it has been 3 weeks since the last scout meeting. All cubs arrived early exchanging smiles and greetings with each other. Akela started the meeting sharing the GOOD news that the Amazing Trail 2013 will be happening on 29th June! Many cubs jumped for joy as it was previously announced that it may be cancelled. Next Akela gave out progress and proficency badges to some cubs. He then shared with us the top earners of this year job week and those who earned more than S$500. Akela also gave those of us who earned more than S$100 a special torchlight with the Singapore Scout logo. Next, it was activity time. This week we created newspapers "mummies". Each six has to create 2 mummies using the newspaper provided. The challenge is that at the end of 1 hour, these "mummies" must be able to walk around and even have to perform without dropping or breaking the newspaper strips on them. It was another fun-filled day for the cubs!

The Amazing Balanced Lifestyle Trail

The much-awaited greatest event of the year is here again. This year, our 7th Amazing Trail is themed The Amazing Balanced Lifestyle Trail. As early as 7.30am, facilitators were briefed on the trail rules and regulations. This year, we have facilitators from HSBC (who had a great time last year) as well as CPG, a civil engineering company, courtesy of Kaa (Jimmy Liu). And our completely dependable team of helpers and facilitators who have been our unsung heroes all these years, our ex-Pelicans and ex-Bukit Panjang Scouts. Participants started streaming in from 8.30am and Akela finally began the trail briefing at 9.00am. His succint  message was that it was more important to complete rather than compete. And above all, everyone should have fun and spend a great day bonding with their family. This year, McDonald's Singapore has kindly sponsored snacks and sundaes, and consented to our teams using their outlets as checkpoints. Thank you, McDonald's. Mrs Lynn Tan was also i...

AMAZING UNUSUAL PLACES TRAIL

Image
Saturday 25th. June, 2011 Our annual family bonding trail is here again. After weeks of preparation, briefings and research, some 260 Cubs, parents and siblings gathered in the wschool hall for a final briefing, and to find out the theme of this year's trail - Unusual Places. Akela briefed participants on the theme of the trail, rules and tips. Cubs are to scour the island in search of unusual places, given by encrypted clues. Points will be earned on successful location of these places and additional points earned upon successful completion of pre-determined tasks. Facilitators, comprising former Pelicans, volunteers from HSBC and our team of young adult leaders would ensure strict compliance of the rules. The Modern Age of Technology A discussion to map out strategies, and off the teams went in their quest to score the most points, and at the same time, spend some quality time with their parents and siblings. First Team off the block! T...
