Hike on 16 August 2025

By Bilby Sixer Li Yuchen

During the hike from the Esplanade to the Indoor Stadium, we came across many interesting sights, including a concert at Marina Barrage. Before setting off, we had gathered at the school entrance to wait for instructions. The leaders reminded us to take along a few essentials such as a water bottle, raincoat, and other items. Once attendance was taken, we boarded the bus. The ride was fairly quick, and along the way we passed Marina Bay Sands, the F1 street circuit being set up for the race, and the Singapore Flyer.

When we got off the bus at the Esplanade, we crossed the road into Esplanade Park, where we saw a few people jogging. After a while, we spotted some drones flying above, and even came across a very large one resting on the ground. Interestingly, we later met the joggers again as we continued on our way.

We walked for what felt like hours before my six was asked to stop for a water break. We allowed the other sixes to pass, which put us at the back of the pack, but we pressed on steadily.

From there, the path led us toward Marina Barrage. The cool breeze was refreshing after the long walk, and as we climbed the slope, we could hear music drifting up from below. At the top, the leaders handed out worksheets for us to complete in groups. Soon after, it was time for a well-deserved picnic. The food was delicious, and everyone enjoyed chatting and resting together before setting off again.

Once the break was over, we reorganized and continued the hike. Eventually, the National Stadium came into view—our final destination! Although we were tired, everyone’s spirits lifted as we reached the end point. When the bus arrived, we boarded and enjoyed a soothing ride back to school.

Back at school, the leaders praised us for our effort before dismissing us. Even though I was exhausted, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and looked forward to more exciting scouting adventures in the future.
