Written by Thirrushan, Senior Sixer & Scribe   It was going to be the third official Zoom scout meeting! I was so excited and got ready 30 minutes before the meeting! We were going to do some simple craft. I got ready some twine and satay sticks. I started the meeting with the colour party. After that, we played a guess the animal game on Mentimeter! It was so fun and we really laughed a lot. We then went into our breakout room ( existing scouts) and started our A-frames for the rack. It was very fun and we laughed a lot. After we finished it with the help of Mr Tan we exited out of the breakout room. We had a briefing and exited from Zoom. It was a really fun experience that I will miss. I can’t wait for the next  meeting!

Lashings Part II 13thJun2020

Written by Ross Pary, Senior Sixer and Chief Scribe   Today was an interesting day for me as I had to attend both halves of the scouts zoom meeting as Thirrushan was sick. Nevertheless, it was fun to attend both halves of the meeting. I started off with the sun set party, though it was just with no flag. After that, Dragonheart took over the session. On Thursday, Dragonheart released a video on Facebook on how to tie a shear knot in two ways.   The first way was easier than the second way, but it was not really what the shear knot is known for. It was just tying two poles together to make them longer. It was what we used in the Sixer’s Training Camp to make a makeshift pole. The second way was more fun for me as it showed what the shear knot was useful for. It was used to join two poles together and be able to stretch them like an X. Next, I had to manage my own six in a breakout room to tie the shear knot. It was a bit hectic, but we managed to get the job done. Soon, w...

Lashings 6thJun2020

Written by Farren Lee, Sixer & Scribe   It was the first ever Scout Meeting Online ! I personally felt very excited as it was my third time using Zoom as I did not like it. These online meetings will be a huge difference from the usual meetings in school.   As we were broken up into Pelican 1 (Bilby - Koala) and Pelican 2 (Kookaburra - Wombat). The first meeting was a refresher meeting as we had not had a meeting for more than 2 MONTHS! We began with an online Colour Party. We then proceeded with learning our Square Lashing and Clove Hitch. I do have to point out that even though there were no Scout Meetings during the Circuit Breaker, we did some fun activities at home as well. Such as Ice Cream Making 🍦 and Poster Colouring 🖍️. We would have to post pictures and videos of the activities on the Pelican Scouts very own Facebook page.   These activities also helped our various sixes to gain extra points. We proceeded to join Breakout Rooms in our six. I...
