Scouting, also known as the Scout Movement, is a worldwide youth movement with the stated aim of supporting young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development, through the Scout Method, that they may play constructive roles in society.

Scout method, a program of informal learning with an emphasis on practical outdoor activities, including camping, woodcraft, aquatics, hiking, backpacking, and sports.


The Pelican Scouts mission is to provide a safe, fun and exciting programme, based on the Jungle Book, for young children to become responsible and considerate individuals through the Scout Promise and Law.

Scout Meeting, 25th August 2012 - Knotting Pt 2

Having learnt the clove hitch last week, Akela proceed to teach the cubs how to tie a reef knot.As the reef knot is used in a triangular armsling, Akela taught the cubs how to tie a reef know using the ends of the scout scarf. He also took the opportunity to explain the importance of first aid and getting adult help. After a demonstration by volunteers on how to tie a triangular armsling, the cubs were broken up into their individual Sixes to practise the armsling. Once everyone was ready, it was Games time! Each Six was to tie an armsling in a relay, making sure that the arsmling and in particular the reef knot was tied properly.Congratulations to Echidna who came in first, earning 100 points!
