Cyclist and Skater Badge Test, 28th May 2016

Written By: Jasper Koh, Sixer & Scribe

The school holidays have just started! But we still had a scout meeting. This meeting was special though. We were going to take our test for either the Cyclist badge, Skater badge or the Journalist badge. Everyone was there quite early, some with bikes and some with skates. There were only a few cubs taking the Skater badge while there were more cubs taking the cyclist badge.

The cubs who were taking the cyclist badge went to the basketball court while the cubs who were taking the skaters badge went to the kidzone. Mr Ho and Kaa were in charge of the cyclist badge test. They taught us the signs to obey on the road and how to signal to other people as a cyclist. After that, they tested us what we needed to check before we start riding.
  •  The tire pressure and whether the tracks on the tires are worn out
  • Brakes
  • Sit
  •  Pedals
  • Chain
  • Helmet

Soon, we cycled around the basketball court while Mr Ho gave us commands on what to do like “Left” and we will raise our left hand to signal. After cycling for a while in the basketball court, we cycled on the running track. We did 4 rounds of cycling up and down then we returned back to the basketball court. Kaa tested us again on what to check before we started cycling. Before we were dismissed, Mr Ho told us what we had to do during the holidays to get the cyclist badge.

We were dismissed and went back home. There will be no scout meeting for the rest of June school holidays. I look forward to the next scout meeting when the school reopens!
