Amazing Trail Preparation, 25th April 2015

Written by: Jessica Koong, Assistant Sixer & Scribe The preparation for the much-anticipated Amazing Trail has started! This year is the 10th anniversary of the Amazing Trail and Singapore's 50th birthday. I am sure it will be an extraordinary, spectacular Amazing Trail! All the cubs will be performing for the gala dinner this year. We have been split into three groups - singing, dancing and acting. I chose to dance. The dance has three segments representing the Malay, Indian, and Chinese ethnicity. Each group has a prop. The scouts in the Indian segment have bells and those in the Malay segment have scarfs. As for the scouts in the Chinese segment, we will be using fans. It will surely be a dance that is befitting to commemorate SG50! All the scouts raced to their allocated rooms and pulled off their shoes to enter the room. In my group, there was a lot of chatter and Mdm Kerina had to raise her voice to calm everyone down. Mdm Kerina revised the dance moves step by s...

Amazing Trail Briefing 2015, 18th April 2015

Written by: Cheong Yew Meng, Assistant Sixer & Scribe “Beep …..Beep !! Horseshoe!!!” the Senior Sixers shouted at the top of their voices. Doing my job as an Assistant Sixer, I got my Kangaroo members to get in line and got in the line myself. After colour party, we got into indian file and took attendance and then Baloo asked who did not come for the district campfire held at Greenridge Primary. A few got valid reasons, A few did not. “Foot Drills???” the entire pack said in unison. Every six had to stand up one by one to do foot drills. It was tough as some could not differentiate “ke kanan pusing” and “ke keri pusing”. After those were over, we had to do contribute to the Amazing Trail Gala Dinner. I picked dance over singing. In conjunction with SG50, we had to wear a traditional costume and do a dance relating to racial harmony. After the first round of practice, we ended the scout meeting at 11a.m. Next, we went to the Pal Room to do our briefing on the Amazing tra...

District Campfire, 11th April 2015

Written by: Kwey Xiu Xi, Sixer & Scribe Today was the day of the District Campfire. The Sixers-in-training went to the District Sixers Training Camp yesterday, and today we meet them there for a grand campfire! At six in the evening, we gathered at school, and prepared to leave for the campfire. We travelled on the school bus, which was filled with noise of the excited chatter. It seemed like everyone was looking forward to this campfire. When we reached the school where the campfire was to be held, we saw the fire wood, placed in the familiar positions we knew, and also a string leading from the second floor down into the campfire wood. Eager as we were, we had to sit in the canteen to wait for them to be ready. We talked about how the school canteen looked like, the different schools of scouts present, (we recognized Beacon Primary school, and another school with a blue scarf) and explained to our recruit the difference of the District campfire and ou...
