Written by Bryan Low, Sixer & Scribe I came to school very early at 7.20 a.m., and was really excited as today, we would be having our last job week briefing before setting out to begin our job week. I put down my bag and talked with my friends for a while before the senior sixer, Min Rei, blowed the whistle signal for horseshoe and i quickly got into my position in the horseshoe. We did the usual colour party, said the scout promise, and lined up in indian file to begin the briefing. Once in indian file, the sixers were asked to think up of a few skits to show good and bad examples of scouts and different people we meet. While we prepared the skits, the other scouts were briefed about job week with more detail. Mr Tan mentioned something very important: never use “donation”, and instead use “contribution”. By Chong Min Rei, Senior Sixer and Scribe The sun was rising, I had just arrived for the scout meeting. I saw some cubs were playing while some of them were talking to each other. Kai Fong and I were setting up the flag for colour party with some of the cubs. There were cubs signing their badges and some cubs bonding with others. I blew my whistle signalling it was time for Colour Party. After Colour Party, Kai Fong and I with some help from cubs, we collected rocks and sticks to build a trail for those who had not done it. Although it was tiring, it trained my eyesight and also helped with time management. We decided to do a rock trail, only made up of only rocks, and a stick trail, only made up of sticks. While we were collecting the sticks and rocks, Mr tan was teaching the other cubs a new knot. They then had Six Corner to talk to their cubs about getting badges and the new knot they had learnt. Written by Kwan Kai Fong, Assistant Senior Sixer and scribe.   We started with horseshoe as usual, however the sixer was not here so the assistant sixer had to take over and I was proud of him for an assistant sixer. Next, Mr Tan taught us how to tie a reef knot and thumb knot after that we went into six corner. Mr Chong explained what it was after that we picked our groups it took way too long and once they were called back the sixers weren’t even done writing. The unit except for the Akela candidates, who planed and made the trail for the recruits and those who have not got their bronze arrow (the first major award) and the other part of the unit got another lecture by Mr Cheong. When I saw the faces of the recruits, I could tell they were having a good time. After that was the parents meeting for job week.

Written by Ross Pary, Assistant Sixer and Scribe It was a very dark Saturday morning. I was very excited as we were going to Bishan Stadium. We were going to commemorate World Scout Day. There were supposed to be about four thousand scouts there. Wow! That’s a lot of children. Many of the groups came from the South and North area. There were a lot of scouts scattered all over the Bishan Stadium field.   The guest of honour was Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Trade and Industry. He was also a former Scout. After he took a few pictures with the Chief Commissioners, he showed all of us a very interesting   video. Five scouts actually did something very exciting. They ventured across the whole Singapore, walking on land and travelling on boat on water. After that, one of the scout emcees said,” Please activate the Scouting light app. We are going to pass down the ‘torch’. 3,2,1, GO!!!!” And, it had begun. Hundreds of scouts started passing it down. Written by Thirrushan, Asst Sixer & Scribe It was a Saturday, which only meant one thing, scouts! Today was a special day for many P3 recruits as it was their investiture! Today is the day when about 30 recruits join the   World Scout Movement from Henry Park Pelican unit. I reached school at about 20 minutes to the start of the meeting to help with folding the scarfs for the investiture. All the recruits were trying out their brand new uniforms. Then, we soon started with the colour party, and we formed into a horseshoe shape. Firstly, we had a six corner, where our sixer, Bryan talked to everyone (except me, as I have the gold arrow) on when and how to get their arrows. Soon after, we gathered back and Mr Tan and Mr Cheong talked to us about the investiture and how to sew the badges which were given to the recruits    Soon enough, were we getting ready for the investiture. Some of the recruits have all forgotten their respective sixes and it took a while for them to settle down and we could start colour party. And after that, we did some badge giving out.                Without a second to spare, we soon went to the canteen. We put our heavy bags down and then went to different tables to start the activity. We were going to make mini spring rolls! It was 1 of the many CNY goodies(food). Me and my six, Echidna, were excited. Mr Lin taught us how to make them in just a few minutes time, first put in some floss and roll it, then fold the 2 end and then put water so it will stick. Written by Bryan Low, Sixer & Scribe Today, we specially reported to school at 7.00 a.m. Why? Well, today, we would be hiking in Chestnut Nature Park! Mr Cheong said that it would be a 4.5 km long hike. After I came to school, I saw that there were already quite a lot of scouts at the bus bay. I walked to my six and sat down at the front as I was the Sixer of my six, Platypus. Once it was about 7.10, the senior Sixer, Min Rei, asked all of us to stand up as she was going to make sure that all of us present had handed in our reply slip to attend today’s hike. After making sure that all of us had stood up, Min Rei instructed us to say “present” or “here” and then sit down whenever we heard our name being called. It did not go that smoothly, but after a while, we had made sure that everyone had handed in their consent form reply slips.
