Track & Trail, 9March2019

By Chong Min Rei, Senior Sixer and Scribe

The sun was rising, I had just arrived for the scout meeting. I saw some cubs were playing while some of them were talking to each other. Kai Fong and I were setting up the flag for colour party with some of the cubs. There were cubs signing their badges and some cubs bonding with others. I blew my whistle signalling it was time for Colour Party.

After Colour Party, Kai Fong and I with some help from cubs, we collected rocks and sticks to build a trail for those who had not done it. Although it was tiring, it trained my eyesight and also helped with time management. We decided to do a rock trail, only made up of only rocks, and a stick trail, only made up of sticks. While we were collecting the sticks and rocks, Mr tan was teaching the other cubs a new knot. They then had Six Corner to talk to their cubs about getting badges and the new knot they had learnt.

Time passed very fast, we only completed the stick trail and only started on the rock trail a few minutes ago. In the KidZone, when we were setting up the other trail, some sixers put up a short skit to shoe they do and don’ts during job week. Mr Cheong told us to hurry up as we did not much time left. We decided to shorten the rock trail only leading it to the pond. Not long after, we completed the trail. Just to make sure the stick trail was still there, Ross went to check. To our surprised, the trail was gone, I was shocked and soon started to panic as the cubs were going to start the trail in a few minutes.

Not having anytime to find out what happened to the stick trail, the other cubs who set up the trail got into action. I collected some sticks and passed it to them. Due to fast movement and quick thinking, they were able to fix the trail. We then lead the sixes to the two trails one by one.

After the trail, Raksha passed out the job week cards to us and explained the new card and how we were to use it, we were told what to bring and what time to report. As the new cubs had a meeting about job week, we did Sunset Party and had our Sixers’ Council to end off the day.
