It was
a very dark Saturday morning. I was very excited as we were going to Bishan
Stadium. We were going to commemorate World Scout Day. There were supposed to
be about four thousand scouts there. Wow! That’s a lot of children. Many of the
groups came from the South and North area. There were a lot of scouts scattered
all over the Bishan Stadium field.
The
guest of honour was Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Trade and Industry. He was
also a former Scout. After he took a few pictures with the Chief Commissioners,
he showed all of us a very interesting
video. Five scouts actually did something very exciting. They ventured
across the whole Singapore, walking on land and travelling on boat on water.
After
that, one of the scout emcees said,” Please activate the Scouting light app. We
are going to pass down the ‘torch’. 3,2,1, GO!!!!” And, it had begun. Hundreds
of scouts started passing it down.
After
the ‘torch’ had been passed down, we were split into groups of two sixes. Each
group had one senior scout. Later, we went to different booths and started
playing to get stamps to complete our score sheet and to get a goodie bag.
My
group went to the tennis booth first. I actually found out that I am a decent
tennis player. Wow! I learnt so many new things. After we went to about five
booths, we went back to the bus bay to assemble.
After
a while, the bus arrived, and we went back to the school. Along the journey, I
reflected on what I had learnt during the carnival and hope to continue
experiencing learning in Scouts.
