Sixer Training Camp Day 3 on 05 July 2026
By Senior Sixer Kiefer Koo
Day 3 of our camp was packed with exciting and meaningful activities that helped us develop our scouting skills while strengthening our teamwork and resilience.
We began the day with a 7 km hike along the Green Corridor before making our way back to school. The journey was both enjoyable and challenging, allowing us to appreciate nature while building our endurance and perseverance.
After returning to camp, we had inspection, where we learnt the importance of discipline, cleanliness, and maintaining high standards. As part of the inspection, we also had to lay out our wet and dirty clothes to dry. This was one of the activities that many people disliked, but honestly, I found it quite fun.
Next, we had an outdoor cooking session. Working individually, I had to prepare and cook my own meal using only my mess tin. This activity taught us valuable life skills such as cooking without a stove, being responsible for ourselves, and solving problems independently.
We then prepared and set up the flagpole. During this session, we learnt how to fold the flag properly, attach it to the halyard, and hoist it correctly. Although it looked simple, it required careful teamwork and attention to detail.
In the afternoon, we took part in a first aid activity around the school. We searched for "casualties"—who were actually some of the Primary 6 scouts and alumni—and applied the first aid skills we had learnt earlier in the year. We practised skills such as tying a head bandage and an arm sling while learning the importance of staying calm and helping others during emergencies.
One of the most memorable activities was the blindfold confidence walk. Each of us was guided by an alumnus through a series of obstacles while blindfolded. The activity required us to trust our guide completely and strengthened our communication and confidence in one another. We also played several team games that brought lots of laughter and further strengthened the teamwork within our six.
After dinner, everyone worked together to clean up the campsite and break camp. Although we were exhausted after such a busy day, we felt proud of everything we had accomplished over the past three days.
Day 3 was a rewarding end to the camp. It taught us valuable lessons about teamwork, leadership, resilience, responsibility, and self-reliance. It was truly a memorable experience that I will cherish for a long time.
