Scarf Scarf Scarf, 25th January 2014

Written by: Claudia Kong, Sixer & Scribe After the usual horse-shoe formailities and attendance taking, Sixers met up with their six in Sixer's corner helping their members to work on their Proficiency badges and their arrows too. I am glad that all except one in my six already attained at least a Bronze Arrow :-) After Sixer's corner, we spent lots of time with our scarf! As adult leaders observed that many of the cubs do not turn up in tidy scout uniform (especially the scraf), we went through an entire session of learning how to fold our scraf properly. After which, we had a scarf folding competition ;-) Before the meeting ended today, many badges were given out. Feedbacks on the quality of the six's scout log were also given. While the main pack were having fun with our scarves, the new recruits enoyed themselves with many getting-to-know you games and some simple drills. I am so looking forward to our annual campfire! Scout Meeting with New Recruits, 18th January 2014

Written by: Lucas Tan, Senior Sixer & Scribe Today was the second scout meeting of the year and the day the new recruits came in for their first session. The recruits were then tested to see if they remembered our names. Next, the sixers returned to their six while the senior sixers and a few seniors arranged a few fun games to lay with the recruits. First, we played “Dog and Bone”, and then we decided to let them have a go at playing “Pass the Hula-hoop”. The “Dog and Bone” game taught the recruits to be ...

1st Scout Meeting, 11th January 2014

Written by Janice Koong, Assistant Senior Sixer & Scribe Finally! Our first meeting of 2014! It was wonderful to see everybody assembled together once again, after two long months. There were many different expressions on every cub’s faces, running the gamut from happiness to reluctance. Clearly some people had difficulties waking up early again.  The Senior Sixers, Assistant Senior Sixers, Sixers and Assistant Sixers arrived at the KidZone at 8am, an hour earlier than the rest, to prepare ourselves after the long break. During the extra hour, we did foot drills and practised the Horseshoe over and over again. Tiring don’t you think? Soon, the other cubs started streaming in and before we knew it, it was 9. We began the first Scout Meeting of the year with a horseshoe, followed by Indian File and Sixers’ Corner. Sixers had to help their cubs in completing their Bronze Arrow and take some tests if they could. After that, we assembled for foot drills...
