Annual Campfire 11th February 2012

By Scribe Brandon Khaw Hooray! The annual campfire will be held later this evening and I have the Saturday morning free to enjoy. Besides being held for the first time in the new Mount Sinai campus, the kickoff for the campfire was conducted in a totally different way. The Eagle Scouts had hung a string from the 2nd level to the nicely arranged pile of wood at the ground level. When the Principal declared the start of the campfire, the ball was lit up and like a live “fireball” sliding down to the pile of wood. Boom! The pile of wood burst into flames! All the scouts, recruits, parents, teachers, Vice-Principals and Principal cheered and clapped loudly. Then in unison, we all sang our hearts out - our first campfire song - Campfire’s burning, campfire’s burning…….. The games segment is always a favourite for many. Scout Meeting, 4th February 2012

By Scribe and Senior Sixer Kimberly Song This week’s meeting was yet another fun and tiring one. The new recruits brought along newspapers, glue and scissors. What could be installed for us? Even I was baffled that we had to bring newspapers for the meeting! After horseshoe, Akela explained what we were going to do. We had to cut out letters from the newspaper and stick them onto a vanguard sheet and stick the scout law. Memories flooded my mine. I had fun doing it last time when I was a recruit. Maybe this year’s new batch will enjoy it as well? However, they did not really enjoy it I think. Since our new campus is very windy, the newspapers kept flying away! Some of them had glue all over their fingers. Some sixs were in a pickle as they forgot the scout law! Not long after, they were gathered back to the kidzone and 2 sixes were declared the winners who managed to complete their tasks on time.
