Written by: Kwek Xiu Xi, Sixer & Scribe Today, was the investiture, a simply yet formal ceremony used to symbolize the acceptance of the recruits into the scout pack. Today, when I arrived, I noticed that all the recruits were in the same uniform as we were, just without scarves. The recruits looked very smart in their new uniforms, and it could be seen that they were proud of themselves. In today's meeting, we spent most of our time rehearsing for the investiture. Six by six, the sixers had to lead their recruits to the front of the “horseshoe” and let them say the scout promise. After that, they would be presented their new scarf and woggle. The hard part of the entire ceremony was, we had to stand in sediah for 30-45 minutes! After the first rehearsal, most of us were extremely tired. However, we managed to survive the real investiture, and I think we did very well. We gathered and formed up quickly with the assistance of the Sixers and Assistant Sixers. After the horseshoe, we gathered in indian file, took attendance and then Baloo asked us whether we knew our new recruits well. Some did not. Some did. He then gave us 5 minutes to know the recruits better. After 5 minutes, we gathered back in indian file. Baloo asked us who volunteered to say one of his/ her six members. He tested every group and only Bliby passed! “Go get your materials and meet back here, go now,” the three Senior Sixers instructed us. After getting our stuff, we split into six corner. Written by: Jessica Koong, Assistant Sixer & Scribe We started an arduous hike this glorious sunny Saturday morning. There were many difficulties and challenges but all of us managed to survive it. This was what happened… … “YEAH! I am so excited!” shouts of joy could be heard from the recruits. They were thrilled as it was their first hike with the pack. We first walked along a path between the Caltex petrol kiosk and the school to get to the Green Corridor. Unfortunately, the path was teeming with ants! A few of the recruits were terrified at first, but they eventually overcame their fears and walked on. The path was so narrow that one of the recruits fell into the bushes below! Then came the horrific slope that the adult leaders had to help us to get down. Written by: Evangel Wong, Assistant Senior Sixer & Scribe “BEEP!BEEP!BEEP!BEEP!BEEEEP! HORSE SHOE!” The senior sixers blew their whistle and yelled for horse shoe. It was the first meeting after the recruit's camp. All the cubs ran into their horse shoe position and the recruits standing at the back of the horse shoe. After all the horse shoe procedures, everyone gathered in Indian file, with the recruits in two groups. Mrs Koh then assigned the recruits to go to their respective six, as the six warmly welcomed the new recruits in their team. Once everybody settled down, the sixers had to record down the new information about their own cubs. After that was all done, Kaa explained to us the activity for today ..... Each six was going to make one bridge and one tower out of newspaper! We thought it was impossible!!! Kaa then told us the rules and the challenge... we had to build a tower and a bridge in a way so that it can hold a tennis ball for at least 5 seconds! B...

There were five Sixes: Ants, Bees, Crabs, Ducks, and Elephants. I saw many bags propped up against the walls, and in them I could see different shapes. When the recruits were in their Sixes two assistant sixers from our main pack were assigned to each individual Six as a duty sixer/duty assistant sixer. Baloo then began some icebreakers, and when I saw them playing around it was clear that they were full of energy and excitement. After that Baloo taught them about the Jungle Book, and other important scouting information like who the founding father of Scouting was, when Founding Day was. They were also briefed on the Scout Promise and the Scout Law. Meanwhile, the service scouts were preparing for their campfire skit.
