20th Anniversary Dinner and P6 Send-off on 9 Nov 2024

By Possum Sixer Isaac Neo

On Saturday, I arrived at school brimming with excitement and eager for the long-anticipated 20th anniversary celebration. Bagheera assigned us to the front gate to greet the esteemed guests as they arrived. After several rehearsals, we managed to coordinate our timing and get ready for the guests' entrance. When the VIPs showed up, our senior sixer, Zac, warmly welcomed Mr. Desmond, the Chief Commissioner, while the sixers saluted the gathering of dignitaries. After that, we headed to the school hall for the Gala Dinner.

Inside the school hall, Baloo gave a speech that celebrated the achievements we've made over the past two decades. Shortly after, the Chief Commissioner inspired us with an uplifting talk about our history and future opportunities. Following this, we joined a Zoom meeting with Mr. Robert Koh, our Akela, before dinner. Baloo then kicked off the grand feast after sharing details about the meal arrangements.

The Gala Dinner showcased a wide variety of dishes, including steamed fish, Muah Chee, and grass jelly. The lavish dinner lasted for two hours, wrapping up with Baloo's announcement that the Gala Dinner had officially concluded. It was now time for the exciting performances!

We were first treated to a captivating dance performance by one of our talented alumni, Wang Ziyi. Her grace was truly impressive, culminating in a stunning split at the end of her routine. After that, our fellow Cub Scouts put on a remarkable musical show. One scout played ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ beautifully on the violin, while another accompanied on the piano. We then moved on to the prize presentation ceremony, where the awards for the best scout and best six were handed out.

As with all great events, the 20th anniversary celebration wrapped up at 9:30 p.m. I felt a profound sense of pride, as this dinner not only marked a significant milestone for Pelican Scouts but also represented an important chapter in my own scouting journey. The cherished moments I experienced during the anniversary dinner will stay with me forever.
