Selif-Reliance Activities, 21Jul18

Written by Kwan Kai Fong, Asst Senior Sixer & Scribe I came to school early to help the six that was folding the flag, I was scared the flag was upside down until Mr Tan came. We got into groups 1-4. There were 4 stations, ironing some T-shirts, sewing wooden buttons to cloths, tying our shoe laces as a little competition, folding clothing we spent 5 minutes siting on the ground. Then we went back into our groups then we had a real competition everything but ironing into one competition everything was easy. Although we were tired we did our best we still had cuts from sewing. Raksha told us all 2 weeks later we will have a Solar Oven Competition we all became enthusiastic. We all went home exited for the Solar Oven Competition.

Handover Ceremony, 14July2018

Written by Chong Min Rei, Senior Sixer & Scribe I had to come early to hand up my documents and log book for the Akela Award. While I was singing things off, the cubs came in one by one to the KidZone. Some went to play, some went to talk to their friends, some went to queue up to sign things off their yellow book and help with the flag. “Beep! Beep! Beep!” went the whistle. Everybody got into a Horseshoe, we then had colour party and got into Indian file. Baloo then explained how we should get our badges or our certificates and got our badges. After that, Baloo chose some sixers to lead songs and gave them comments and asked us how they did. We then had a game, we had a ball and a six will stand in the middle and we tried to roll the ball so when it hits the person’s leg they had to go out. It was really fun! Not to long later, we got our appointments. When they were going to say the Assistant Senior Sixer and Senior Sixer, everybody was very excited. When they said ...

Outdoor Cooking, 7July2018

Written by Trisha Chan, Senior Sixer & Scribe This week, we were going to do outdoor cooking with actual wood! We were very excited and couldn’t wait to start. However, we had to wait as Raksha and Mdm Kerina had to give out the Job week woggles and progress badges. After that, we trooped to the canteen and changed to half U. Each six then received a small chicken and three chocolate bananas. We were then directed to 10 tin trays to build our fire in. After that, we searched for kindling (twigs & leaves) and lit our fires with matches. Soon after, we doused our fires, ate the food, did Sunset party, and happily ran home.

Sixers Training Camp 2018, 30June - 2July2018

Written jointly by Bryan Low, Asst Sixer & Scribe and Cheong Yew Chung, Asst Sixer & Scribe Day 1 “Okay is everyone here?” said Baloo. We had all just gathered for our sixers training camp 2018. We then boarded the bus and started our long journey to terror sea scout’s camp site. After the log journey we all settled down for a while and we started pitching our tents. It was a blast and did some foot drills followed by lunch. So far, we felt it was nice, but we spoke too soon. After Baloo spoke to us about being a leader, we went for a 10KM hike!!!                       It was really tiring that we almost felt like we were all dead people. But we made it out and fitter than ever. We then had dinner and Mr Cheong went through we us what It means to be a leader. And we soon finished washing up, sixer’s council and our reflection. Day 2 It all started with us doing morning PT, colour party and us having brea...

Cyclist & Skater Proficiency Badge, 26May2018

Written by Bryan Low, Asst Sixer & Scribe Today, we arrived in school at 9.00 a.m. But, we were each here for our own separate reasons. Some came with bicycles, some came with rollerblades while others just came with their school uniforms and bags. Yes, today was the test for people who wanted to earn the cyclist or skater badge. We split into three groups, one for the cyclist test, one for the skater test, and one for the Akela candidates. The cyclist badge candidates went to the Lower Indoor Sports Hall (ISH) while the skater badge candidates and Akela candidates remained in Kidzone 1. The cyclist and skater badge candidates then did their test and the names of those who passed were written down, ready to be given the badge on their next meeting. The Akela candidates spent some time being briefed on their task and what to do during the June holidays. After that, they too were able to take their cyclist/skater test if they wanted too. After all the tests wer...

Preparation For Amazing Trail 2018, 28April2018

Written by Syred Hafiz, Asst Senior Sixer & Scribe “beeb, beeb beeb, beeb beeb!” I blew the whistle to signal horseshoe. I was proud as when I was in the middle, I could see a lot of new scout members. There were a lot more than before and all of them were standing proudly. After horseshoe, baloo came and asked some people to stand up and sing what they have prepared to the previous week. Since I did not come, I did not know what baloo was talking about.   So he brought us to the music room. There, we were learning a dance called waka waka. It was a very fun dance and the music is very nice. Then, baloo called the singers up. They ended up singing a song by one direction. The song is called what makes you beautiful. These performances are actually for the gala dinner after the amazing trail. We rehearsed many times until we were perfect. We were confident of doing well for the dance as we were quite good at it. We walked back to the kidzone for dismissal. I blew t...
