The Amazing SG60 Trail Adventure on 17 May 2025

By Deputy Senior Sixer Ang Yi Chen

On 17 May, I had one last wonderful opportunity to participate in The Amazing SG60 Trail 2025. The event was nothing short of spectacular – filled with energy, laughter, adventure and a great sense of unity!

As the Deputy Senior Sixer, I was proud to be placed in Platypus. I arrived bright and early at 7.30 AM, buzzing with anticipation. The day began with a lively briefing by our enthusiastic and cheerful Ikki, who unveiled the theme for this year: The Amazing SG60 Trail 2025! The announcement set the mood and spirits were high as we received our limited-edition cotton T-shirts – a fun and thoughtful keepsake with clues on it.

We were joined by 80 guest scouts from three different northern schools: Waterway Primary, Horizon Primary and Springdale Primary. It was great meeting new friends who shared the same adventurous spirit! Our Six, Platypus, was split into two groups – one headed east and the other west. I was in Group One, which went westward in search of historical landmarks from Singapore’s past, using maps from as far back as 1841 to 1998. What an intriguing challenge!

As we set off, the weather had its own plans – the skies opened, and a heavy downpour greeted us as we started our journey. We made our way to Holland Village MRT by bus and then to Harbourfront MRT by train. Despite getting soaked – shoes and socks included – we laughed it off and walked on. Our first stop was 250m Keppel Bay Bridge where we completed a cheer. Mr Lin was there to facilitate and record our completion.

After completing our tasks under the pouring rain, we headed to Clementi Swimming Complex, where we created a human body sign spelling “SG60” – it felt great to contribute something meaningful in a funny way. We then grabbed McDonalds at Clementi Mall.

Midway, I had to make a detour to the SJI Open House, while my team continued on their exploration to Lakeside and beyond. I rejoined them later at Holland Road and together, we all made our way back to school on foot.

By 4:16 PM, we had completed the final challenge: arranging items that started with letters to form the words “AMAZING TRAIL”. It was a fun, brain-tickling, bag-emptying activity that wrapped up the trail wonderfully. We appreciate our facilitators Luke, Joshua and Greywolf (Mr Lin) and enthusiastic parents.

Afterward, we gathered in the canteen to rest and create a short video capturing our day. It wasn’t easy – editing without experience on a new device was tricky – but somehow, we pulled it off with teamwork and creativity by Platypus Sixer, Assistant Sixer and parents.

All the Sixers and Senior Sixers then assembled in the hall to practice our formal greeting for the Guest of Honour. When the moment arrived, we stood proudly in the library and saluted him with respect and pride.

And then, the real celebration began! With Baloo as our hilarious and engaging emcee, the party came alive with games, sing-alongs and lots of laughter. The announcement of the winners added a spark of excitement – Emu Six took home the Champion title, and we cheered for them wholeheartedly. Appreciation were also bestowed upon our dearest Scout teachers and leaders!

As the evening drew to a close, we joined hands in a line hug and sang the Scout Hymn – a touching and heartfelt end to a meaningful day. Tired but fulfilled, we headed home with smiles on our faces and memories that would last a lifetime.

What an amazing day it was!
