Knotting on 5 April 2025

By Kangaroo Sixer Jeremy Liu

Today was a great day at Scout. We began with a colour party ceremony before our main scout meeting.

The first activity was knotting. Our Scout leaders split us into three groups: first-year, second-year, and third-year scouts. The first-year scouts learned simple knots, while the second-year scouts practiced lashing techniques. The third-year scouts tackled a more advanced project, building a structure using square lashing with wooden poles.

After knotting, we went to the PAL room for a briefing on our upcoming Amazing Trail event. Before the main briefing, our venture scout, Farren, gave an excellent presentation on Crime Prevention. He taught us about various types of crimes, such as property crime, and shared tips on how to stay safe. Farren's presentation was both informative and interesting.

Once that was finished, the leaders briefed us on the Amazing Trail, explaining exactly what the event would involve and what we needed to do. After the briefing, we all signed up for the trail before heading home.

It was a productive and fun day, and I had a great time!
