Weekly Meeting 30 Sep 2023

By Koala Sixer Ryan Toh I was greeted by Zhe Yuan when I arrived at the Kidzone for Scouts meeting. I saw lines of fellow cub scouts lining up in front of the leaders to sign off badges. We have to come earlier to sign the badges, however, I could see that I probably wouldn’t get a chance today because the queue was pretty long. I would have to wait for another day. Shortly after, the senior sixers, Donald and Ewan, blew the whistle to inform us to attend to horseshoe. We gathered in a C-shaped formation while we did flag raising. We gathered in Indian file after the flag raising to take attendance. Raksha gave out the Diamond Jubilee Q1 badge to those scouts who had completed the Go Solar Journal. Hathi then briefed us about the Solar Diamond Jubilee Q4 challenge. We are required to do a reflection on the Go Solar journey we took this year. She gave us 25 minutes to finish answering the questions. When we were done with the questions, Ikki, told us that we were going to do a team quiz

By Kookaburra Sixer Liang Junchen On Saturday Night, we had a night hike. We met in school at 5:30pm. We had to gather in front of the library. A lot of people were talking as many were very excited. This is their first night hike. Chil the hike master briefed the leaders first and briefed the whole pack. My six was led by the alumni, Nicholas and Bryan. The bus came around 6pm and the first three six got into the first bus. The 3Ks (Kangaroo, Koala and Kookaburra) got into the next bus. Finally, the last four six got on the last bus. We talked a lot on the bus and time flies. Before we realise, we were at Changi Terminal 2 already. We had a toilet break and we filled up our water bottles. After that, we started on the hike. We walked all the way from T2 to T4, which is the newest terminal. Along the way, we saw signs about the Jurassic Mile and we thought that we were in Jurassic Mile already but it turns out that we were wrong. The Jurassic Mile only started after we passed T4 and a

North Area Solar Oven Competition 16 Sep 2023

By Emu Sixer Niu Yunhan It was a bright day when I arrived at the kidzone. We could not sign badges because the leaders were busy preparing for the solar oven competition. I set the materials I bought next to my six and discussed energetically about the solar oven that we were going to build. We gathered in Indian File and welcomed other cub scouts from the North Area to Henry Park. They are cub scouts from Endeavour Primary, Keming Primary and Woodgrove Primary. Bagheera gave us a briefing and led us to the canteen to start building our solar oven. Each six is split into 2 groups. The 2 senior sixers form 1 group. In total, we have 27 groups participating in the competition. Bagheera had a small surprise in an offer, telling us that we had to answer some questions about scouting in order to get extra materials. Seeing that our group did not have a lot of black paint, my group sent me to get some black paint and a brush. The first question was easy enough, asking what the motto of scou
