Last
Saturday morning, it was a wrap for this year’s Scout Donation Draw and we were
told to return all the money raised, together with any unsold tickets.
After
the whistle was blown, we quickly gathered into the horseshoe position. After
doing the usual colour party, we got into Indian
File.
Without further ado, we headed to the Pal room for the
collection of the donation draw tickets.
While the donation draw tickets were being collected,
we were pleasantly surprised as we were told that we would be folding paper aeroplanes
today. It turned out that due to the current haze situation in Singapore, our
night hike next week would be postponed. Instead, we would be going for the
annual North Area Paper Aeroplane Derby!
We practised three basic methods of folding paper aeroplanes
and a few harder ones. The longest distance, the longest time in the air,
accuracy and most creative paper aeroplane – these were the four components of
the competition. Everyone was excited and couldn’t wait to get outside to put
our skills to test. Some of our planes flew high and far, while some of our
planes went into a nosedive. However, we never give up and kept on trying to
improve our plane designs. It was so much fun!
Before the meeting was dismissed, we received the
consent form for the competition. After that, we did the sunset party and
sixer’s council. I cannot wait for next week’s Paper Aeroplane Derby!
