“Beep! Beep! Beep!” the Senior Sixer blew the
whistle as we lined up in Indian file. This meeting was different as we
gathered at the Bus Bay at 7am for our hike! This was the first hike of the
year and the recruits were joining us. The recruits went to their Six which
they were assigned last week. Shafiq, the Senior Sixer, went through all the
forms to make sure everyone has submitted their forms.
We did a headcount of everyone and we were told
to follow the adult leaders assigned to our Six. Soon, we boarded the bus and
went to MacRitchie to hike. When we arrived at MacRitchie, we started the hike.
We hiked along the MacRitchie reservoir and saw many people canoeing. We came
across a fallen tree which some of us had to duck down to pass the tree. At the
end of the first route, we took another route and turned back. This time it wasn’t
along the reservoir but through the forest. After a while, we reached back at
where we started and set up our picnic mats. Once we laid down the picnic mats,
we started our picnic. We shared food and talked to each other.
After we finished our picnic, we started on
Track and Trail. While Mr Cheong was talking to the scouts about Track and
Trail, the Sixers went ahead to set up the trail. Soon, Six by Six everyone
went to find the end of the trail which was the gone home sign. After that, we
boarded the bus and headed back to the school. Raksha then told us to wear our
full scout uniform for Total Defense Day. When she finished talking, we were
dismissed and went back home. I really enjoyed this week’s hike and I hope
there will be more hikes in the future. I am looking forward to the next scout
meeting!
