Image
Pelican cubs were at the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden on the morning of 22 September for a Treasure Hunt! The Hunt was in the form of 36 questions, for which answers could be found with the Garden. It was a most interesting and educational assignment, and the Champion Team was the 2-cub team formed by the 2 Senior Sixers, Justin and Jinh Shenn! Well done! The outing ended with a picnic in the Party Place, and free play at the sand pit, the water fountains and the Tree House. Before leaving the Garden, we had a surprise birthday celebration for the 2 twins - Happy birthday Jaddon and Ossdon! Scout Meeting, 15th September 2012 This meeting was all about fun and games! While Baloo took away a number of cubs for singing practice, the rest of the pack was broken up into 4 groups, and the Sixers were free to play whatever games they wanted. What a rare opportunity, and the groups went to a few corners and started playing the games they had wanted to play, but were not able to in the past, including the perennial favourite, Amoeba. The meeting ended one hour earlier, at 11 am, with a story telling session by volunteer cubs, and this had everybody rolling on the floor, as the cubs proved to be master stroytellers! Afer the meeting ended, some cubs and their parents went to LT1 to hear Akela give a briefing on the yearend trip to Taiwan. Who's spying on us? Is it Akela? Shall we paly "Amoeba"? Written by Claudia Kong (Assistant Sixer) & Justin Kong (Senior Sixer)     –         A cyclist’s point of view …   I woke up feeling very excited, as I will be taking my cyclist badge test today.   I arrived in school at 8.45 am, pushing my bicycle with one hand and holding my helmet and air pump in the other.   Soon, many cubs streamed in with their bicycles and helmets too. At 9 am sharp, Akela gathered us to test us on the important things we need to do to take care of our bicycles and how to be a safe cyclist.   As soon as Akela was done, it was time for us to cycle around the school. I was very anxious as I thought that I would not be able to pass the cyclist test. I was in the last queue.   One of the difficulties that I encountered was the hand signal. It was challenging, as I have to stretch my hands out while cycling. But I manage to do it! Hooray!   –         A bystander’s point of view …   I rushed to the scene just in time to see the first batc
