Amazing Eco Home Trail 2010 Saturday 26th June 2010

The main event had finally come! More than 300 Cubs, parents and siblings thronged the school hall in great anticipation of the 5th Amazing Trail, all wondering what the theme for this year was. Facilitators ready to go As early as 0730 hours, Leaders and facilitators had gathered in the hall for a briefing by Akela. They were reminded of their role as facilitators, the trail requirements, instructions on scoring and the conduct of the team. At 0845, Akela welcomed everyone to this family-bonding adventure, and revealed the theme, an Eco Home Trail, and emphasised that the journey was more important than the end result. Of course, we knew too well the goal of the Cubs! To come in first, with the highest points. AMAZING XXX TRAIL

The wait is almost over. In a little less than 24 hours, Cubs, parents and siblings will come together for an exciting day of fun and adventure, culminating in a grand gala dinner, peppered with lots of fun and laughter. Be in school by 0830 hours for the final briefing, and revelation of the theme for this year's Amazing Trail. You don't want to be late! The fun begins soon after. See you tomorrow!

First Aider and Cyclist Proficiency Badge - 5th June 2010

Uploaded by Baloo from London] First Aider Badge Training and Test/Cyclist Badge Test, Saturday 5th June 2010 Ten Akela Award aspirants gathered at our school's Music Room for a lesson on First Aid, followed by a test. One of the requirements of the First Aider Badge, a mandatory requirement for the Akela Award is to have a knowledge of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). To conduct this lesson, we invited Miss Iris Ng, Scout Teacher of Clementi Town Sec School, and a qualified First Aider who brought along two mannequins. Miss Ng explained the steps involved in CPR, followed by a demonstration. As most of the cubs had already learnt about CPR during the last Sixers Training Camp, today's session was more of a revision. There was much laughter and quite a bit of giggling when some cubs had to be the 'casualty' (which everyone wanted to be!), and the first aider had to perform checking of breathing and pulse, blowing air into the mouth
