Scout Meeting, 18th August 2012 - Knotting

Image
This meeting was all about knotting. Akela was to teach (or revise in the case of older cubs) 3 knots - clove hitch, reef knot and sheetbend. After explaining the use of each knot, Akela proceeded to teach the cubs the first knot - clove hitch. When Akela checked, not a single cub knew knew how to tie this knot, including those who had learnt it before! What a surprise, so Akela had to start from scratch. To make sure everyone knew how to tie the clove hitch, Akela played a game - an inter Six challenge to see which Six had members who could tie the highest number of correct clove hitch in a race. Congratulations to Kangaroo Six which earned the most points - 70! Here are the results: 70 points - Kangaroo 50 points - Koala, Echidna 40 points - Wombat 1,Wombat 2 20 points - Kookabarra, Platypus, Possum 10 points - Emu Knotting lesson will continue the following week.
